End of Year Update

27th December 2014

Well, Christmas is finally here and it's the end of another year. We have had a fantastic year, with lots of belt promotions - 100% pass rate still, a couple of demonstrations and some great competition success. Between two SKU competitions this year we have won a total of 8 medals - 3 Bronze, 3 Silver and 2 Gold. I think this is a fantastic achievement and I am very proud of all who have taken part. I do plan to try to make more of our strength in competitions next year by setting up a competition squad for both adults and children.

This year the SKU celebrated its 45th Anniversary with a training course at Center Parcs in Nottingham. Training was carried out by Sensei Knighton and with a number of assistant Instructors. Training consisted of kata bunkai, weapons and self defence.

In August we held the second Annual Gasshuku in North Wales. Again this was a huge success. We will be arranging another one in 2015. I aim to get information out in January and the course is likely to be in late August.

Thank you to everybody for all your efforts and support throughout 2014 - both parents and students.

Many thanks to Andy McGaw and Martin Smith for their help and support throughout 2014 - many thanks to you both.Let’s keep up the good work and keep the high standard up.

Finally I would like to wish you all a Great Christmas and New Year - see you in 2015 when we return on the 6th January.

Sensei Mark
